Our Story & Work

MOSH (Mothers of Special Heroes) was founded in 2021, driven by a mother’s love and the need to break barriers for her child and others like them. After facing the challenges of raising a child with special needs, our founder saw how many families in Africa struggled in silence.

What began as small gatherings in living rooms has grown into a movement. MOSH empowers families of children with disabilities across Africa through education, advocacy, community mobilization, income-generating projects, and creative platforms like music, art, and sports.

At MOSH, we believe no family should walk this journey alone. Together, we are creating a world where every child is valued, every voice is heard, and every mother of a special hero knows they are never alone.

Community Voices

Honest, powerful reflections from those walking the journey of disability with strength and grace—told in their own words.

Through many MOSH workshops, I’ve learned so much — how to care for our special heroes, start a business, improve our health, and even sing in the MOSH Choir. We were taught to nurture our children. Thank you, MOSH!

I came to MOSH and learned how to make detergents. It helped me so much that I shared the knowledge with other mothers. Together, we formed a group. We’re recognized in the community. Thank you, MOSH!.

Thanks to MOSH, I can now bake and sell buns and cakes. I’ve gained skills, confidence, and I’m earning from what I love. MOSH truly changed my life. Thank you very much, MOSH!
